Getting Blitzed for good

Getting blitzed is not something we usually do on company time, but Owen, Rick, Fio, and I couldn’t resist the Blitz Build for the Miami Habitat for Humanity.

Getting blitzed is not something we usually do on company time, but Owen, Rick, Fio, and I couldn’t resist the Blitz Build for the Miami Habitat for Humanity. For one day, we traded in keyboards and paper cuts for good ole hammer swinging and drywall screwing (the jokes never got old).

The Wax team was just a small sweat droplet in the bucket of more than 1,000 volunteers who will work on the two-week, 10-house build in Homestead. Minus Rick, we were construction novices. And none of us had participated in a Habitat build before. We’re converts now.

Wax joined a great team of foremen and fellow volunteers – good vibes turned our manual labor mission into something that felt a lot like fun but with a bigger purpose. And we’re especially grateful for the opportunity to serve in this week’s build to honor Habitat co-founder, Millard Fuller, who died on Tuesday.

Many thanks to our gracious, patient Habitat crew. And best of luck to the Chavarria family in their new home!
