Herald photographer wins Pulitzer

The Miami Herald's Patrick Farrell wins a Pulitzer for Breaking News Photography.

Big shout-out to photographer Patrick Farrell at The Miami Herald for winning the Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography of his heartbreaking images of loss and desolation in Haiti after Hurricane Ike. “He’s a great guy,” says our leader Bill Wax, twice nominated for a Pulitzer for his own photography. It’s welcome news for the beleaguered daily, struggling with staff layoffs and dwindling revenues. Previous Herald winners include humorist Dave Barry, legendary crime writer Edna Buchanan, cartoonist Jim Morin and editor Gene Miller.
