So, you’ve made it. Glad you could come. So how do you like our new place? Isn’t this blog thing great?
We launched our blog this week by linking it to our home page. That doesn’t mean that we only started this today. It has been weeks in the making. In that time, we have added posts, made adjustments and spent a lot of long nights getting things right.
Even though we’re using a really good blog tool, WordPress, to power our blog, there was a lot to do to get it right. We had to adjust our server to read the URLs properly, get the postings to look right and apply all our style sheets so it looks like Wax’s site. We’re still learning how to use this thing right and in time we will. But it isn’t as easy as they all say it is out on the web.
I can tell you that as the technical guy behind it, there were a lot of things I had to learn to get it to work. I do suppose that from a relative point of view, it was easy to get it up and running. That said, having to re-learn “MY SQL” so I could configure it right took a bit of time. Then there was the linking of the tool into our URL. If you have done any work with Apache, you know that there are a lot of things that work and can go wrong. Don’t want to talk about that one configuration change that took our staging site off the air. So embarrassing!
Well, the key is that it is done… or mostly done. There are a few more things to adjust, like making blog.waxcom.com link to it, and there is that webcam we want to link. So what I am trying to say is: enjoy what we have now and what is to come. It’s all great stuff!
