Helping children understand serious illnesses is one of life’s difficult challenges for parents and family members. A new website is helping support those efforts. HelpYourHero.org was launched to create a community that lets people tell their stories in a fun and entertaining way.
The free website lets parents help their child create a “superhero” cartoon- type persona. Patients can choose from 24 different designs and create a forum or blog from the “hero headquarters.” Children can than share their new persona with their friends, family and the website’s network of superheroes.
The website won’t cure the disease, but it can lift spirits.
